MINI-SERIES PART 3

To continue from part 2, we have 3 more tips here plus a BONUS!

#7 I grew up being taught how to cook when there were 5 people in the house including my older teenage brothers! So my mom always had to make a lot of food! A few things I've learned over the years to help make the food stretch are things like adding water to stock to make it more full, cutting broccoli or mushroom stems tiny to add to our meal so no one would notice and we don't waste food, using smaller plates or bowls tricks your mind to think you have more food then you might actually have and in turn, you can listen to your body better on when you're full.

#8 Use your scraps for something else. A neat trick I've recently learned Is keeping a bowl in your freezer for veggie scraps. Once the bowl is full, cook all of it in filtered water for a few hours and you have veggie stock! which can be used in later recipes or to enjoy on its own. The same thing can be done with meat bones! but cook it for longer to get more nutrients out of the bones.

#9 Make a menu! I know so many people that this has helped and if you haven't tried this yet, I highly suggest it! Once a week write down a few meals that you'd like to make throughout the week, including snacks of course, and figure out what ingredients you need to buy for each meal and write down a list before going to the store. Only getting those items will help 1, not cluttering your fridge. 2, not wasting food. And 3, not wasting money. Tell me how it goes once you've tried it!

Bonus tip!! I'm sure we've all heard of or tried freezer meals but dang do they come in handy! Extra chili, freeze it. Too much chicken from one meal, freeze it. Ingredients about to expire, freeze them if you can! When you want to use a freezer meal just take it out around lunchtime and either leave it on the counter for a few hours then pop it in the oven or put it in the crockpot for a few hours and one less thing you have to do later!

I hope I hear from you about how these tips and tricks have helped you in your day-to-day! Or even leave a comment with other tricks you have up your sleeve. Wanna be in the loop? Put your email in to be informed of when there are new blogs up!
